About Care First Physiotherapy in St. Catharines

Care First Physiotherapy opened its St. Catharines clinic on Scott Street to bring an approach that had already been working elsewhere: proper one-on-one time, hands-on treatment, and telling patients the truth about their recovery.

The team of registered physiotherapists at Care First Physiotherapy in St. Catharines

We are a physiotherapy clinic in St. Catharines built around one idea, and the clinic exists because of a gap we kept seeing. Physiotherapy in Ontario has drifted toward high-volume delivery, where one therapist supervises three or four patients simultaneously and most of the actual session is spent on machines or with an assistant. It is efficient for the business. It produces mediocre outcomes for patients, and it is the reason so many people say physiotherapy did not work for them.

We run the other model. One patient, one physiotherapist, one private room, for the whole appointment.

How We Work

We spend the first visit finding out what is actually wrong. Not fifteen minutes and a treatment protocol. A full history, a physical assessment, and a working diagnosis that we explain to you in language you can repeat to your partner over dinner.

We treat with our hands and we load with exercise. Manual therapy without progressive loading wears off. Exercise without addressing the joint restriction or soft tissue problem underneath it is often just painful. The two together are what produce lasting change.

We give you a number. How many visits we expect, and what progress should look like at two weeks and at six. If we are wrong, we say so and change the plan rather than continuing to book you in.

We tell you when physiotherapy is not the answer. Some problems need a surgeon, a rheumatologist, or a scan. Some need nothing at all except time and reassurance. We would rather send you to the right place than keep you on the schedule.

Our Team

Every clinician who treats you at this clinic is a registered physiotherapist, licensed by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and listed on its public register. That register is searchable by anyone, and we would encourage you to use it, for us or for any clinic you are considering.

Registration means a master's-level degree in physiotherapy, a national competency examination, mandatory continuing education, and accountability to a regulator with the power to act on complaints. It is not a title anyone can adopt.

Our team is deliberately small. You are assessed and treated by the same physiotherapist throughout your course of care, because continuity is what allows someone to notice that your fourth visit looks different from your first.

Between us the team holds advanced training across manual therapy, vestibular rehabilitation, Active Release Technique and sports rehabilitation, and we hold memberships with the Ontario Physiotherapy Association and the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. Which of us you see depends on what you are coming in with, and we will say if someone else on the team is the better fit for your problem.

Why Our Patients Choose Us

  • One-on-one care in a private room. Your full appointment with your physiotherapist.
  • Registered physiotherapists only. Every therapist here is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario. "Physiotherapist" is a protected title in Ontario and you can verify any practitioner on the College's public register. Please do.
  • Treatment and supply in one place. Shockwave therapy, custom orthotics, bracing and compression fitting are all available here.
  • Direct insurance billing. We handle the paperwork, including OCF-18 treatment plans for auto insurance and WSIB submissions.
  • Six days a week, with evening hours. Monday to Friday until 7:00 PM, Saturday until 3:00 PM. Shift workers and people who cannot take time off during business hours have somewhere to go.
  • Free parking outside the door at 350 Scott Street.

The Team

Every clinician here is a registered physiotherapist in St. Catharines, licensed by the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario and searchable on the public register. A licensed physiotherapist in St. Catharines has completed a master's-level degree and is accountable to a regulator, which is not true of every job title you will see in a rehabilitation clinic.

Our St. Catharines physio team is deliberately small. You are assessed and treated by the same person throughout, because continuity is what lets someone notice that your third visit looks different from your first.

FAQs

Yes. Every physiotherapist at our St. Catharines clinic is registered with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario, which is the regulatory body for the profession in this province. "Physiotherapist" is a legally protected title in Ontario, and anyone using it must be registered and in good standing. You can verify any practitioner's registration status, qualifications and standing on the College's public register at any time.

Our St. Catharines clinic on Scott Street is the newer of the Care First locations, opened to bring the same approach to Niagara that the practice had already established elsewhere in Ontario.

Yes, wherever scheduling allows. Continuity matters clinically, because your therapist knows what they tried last week, how you responded and where you are in the progression. If your usual therapist is away, whoever covers will have read your file thoroughly before you walk in.

Yes to both. We treat patients across the age range, from adolescent sports injuries through to seniors managing arthritis, balance problems and post-surgical recovery. Falls prevention and balance work with older adults is a significant part of what we do, particularly through our in-home physiotherapy service.

We are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, closed Sunday. The evening and Saturday hours exist because most people cannot take time off work for a 2:00 PM appointment.

We are at 350 Scott Street, Unit 115, in the north end of St. Catharines, with free parking directly outside. The entrance is at ground level and wheelchair accessible.

One-on-one time in a private room with a registered physiotherapist for the whole session. No shared floor, no being handed to an assistant after ten minutes, and no treatment plans sold as packages before we know what is wrong.
